Village of L’Entre-Deux

Village of L’Entre-Deux

With its gorges, ravines and scalpel-sharp ramparts, L’Entre-Deux was a hotbed of marooning in the early days of colonization.

Heir to a rich past linked to coffee, geranium and sugar cane cultivation, the architecture of this small village of character, designated a “Village Créole”, resonates like a hymn to Reunionese tradition. A whole art of living is expressed around these beautiful Creole houses. A map and tour of the Creole houses are available from the Tourist Office. A 1h30 guided tour is also available for lovers of built heritage.

L’Entre-Deux is also renowned for its handicrafts, particularly the weaving of choca, a fat plant from the Agavaceae family. This traditional activity is celebrated every July during the Choca Festival.

The village is a good starting point for walks and hikes in the surrounding area, particularly on the Dimitile massif, whose summit offers a magnificent panorama of Cilaos, or in the Bras de la Plaine, which separates Entre-Deux from Le Tampon. From the bottom of the river, you can access the marvellous gorges of the Bras de la Plaine, with its exuberant, fragrant and colourful flora, and its natural arches, veritable geological jewels.
