An unforgettable walk in the heart of the primary forest, among tree ferns, Tamarinds des Hauts, colored woods and orchids. It’s a chance to get to know this unspoilt forest, with its many native and endemic species.
The Trou de Fer, France’s highest waterfall, offers a grandiose and well-deserved spectacle at the end of the route! It’s an enormous chasm created by a geological depression, into which several rivers flow. A lookout offers a magnificent view of these extraordinary waterfalls. You need to get there early to enjoy the view before the clouds and fog roll in.
Beware of rain: the trail is very muddy. Avoid this hike on rainy days.
Before setting off again, take a detour to the Bélouve gîte, which boasts a superb view of the Salazie cirque, weather permitting.
