La Mare à Poule d’Eau is located on the road between the villages of Salazie and Hell-Bourg. Nestled in the forest, this watering hole offers a relaxing, bucolic stopover in the heart of the cirque of Salazie. The shady, well-appointed site welcomes you to picnic or relax under the gazebos overlooking the lake. The pond is home to the moorhens that give the site its name. A variety of birds can also be seen here, including a rare type of endemic heron.
