2 Rue de Paris, 97400 Saint-Denis
The former Hôtel de Ville de Saint-Denis (1860), with its monumental neoclassical façade, houses part of the town hall’s activities. It is listed as a historic monument. The building’s main attraction, apart from its history, is the impressive salon des fêtes, 35 m long and 10 m wide. At the time, balls were held here for members of Reunion’s high society. The salon bears a striking resemblance to the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. Guided tour available.
