Located at the heart of the Isautier distillery, founded in 1845, this is the oldest family-run distillery on the island. La Saga du Rhum is the only museum dedicated to rum.

The tour begins outside with a collection of ancient sugarcane varieties. Inside, the tour continues with a presentation of the different stages in the rum-making process, following an “industrial” trail that allows visitors to observe the machines, stills and distillation columns. The tour is punctuated by instructive films on the history of rum and sugarcane cultivation, closely linked to the island’s history.

The tour ends with a tasting before moving on to the “Dépôt de Rhum”, a collection of stores organized like a small Creole village. Here you’ll find rums, punches and liqueurs, blends for making rhum arrangés and all manner of souvenirs.
