Le Baril, 97442 Saint-Philippe
You can stop off at Le Baril, the site of the puits des Anglais, a very pleasant spot that is particularly inviting for relaxation, with its natural swimming pool, vacoas-shaded lawn, picnic tables and barbecues. Erected between 1813 and 1822, this ashlar structure was probably dug under the command of Joseph Hubert to collect fresh water flowing down the slopes of the volcano.
Nearby is the Arbonne blower and its impressive water jet, which you can observe during heavy swells.
