The botanical garden extends around the Châteauvieux family home, the former owners of the estate. It is dedicated to the discovery of the richness, diversity and fragility of Reunion’s flora, to better understand its evolution since the arrival of man on the island.

Covering an area of almost 8 hectares, Mascarin boasts eight botanical collections of living plants, presented with educational signage: Forêt des bas de l’Ouest, Plantes Lontan, Verger créole, Succulents, Palms, Orchids and ferns, Bamboos and Coffee trees. As you explore the collections, you’ll discover the incredible diversity of flora and the importance of biodiversity in human life. You can also visit the beautifully preserved villa.
