This beautiful 19th-century residence is nestled in the heart of the former spa town of Hell-Bourg, surrounded by an exuberant garden. Superbly restored, the Maison Folio is one of the village’s jewels. It is a fine example of the charming huts built by the great Creole families who came here from the heat of the coast.
The garden symbolizes “l’art de vivre à la créole”, with its guétali (a promontory from which to observe the surrounding area), its “3 Graces” fountain and its paths. A stroll here takes you on a journey of exotic scents, among perfumed, aromatic and medicinal plants. Tropical exuberance lends the vegetation the cluttered, natural look that makes “Creole gardens” so charming.
