Grand Bassin is an ilet nestling at the bottom of a valley surrounded by imposing ramparts. It’s nicknamed the little Mafate. And like the latter, it offers a timeless voyage into the heart of exuberant nature. The islet owes its name to the magnificent basin that can be seen from Bois-Court. Inhabited since the 18th century, it prospered with the cultivation of coffee and geraniums. Today, the village lives almost exclusively from tourism. Most of the families who live here run gîtes and tables d’hôtes to welcome you.
