97490 Saint-Benoît
In the heart of the Rivière des Marsouins lies the magnificent site of îlet Bethléem, at the end of a 15-minute walk along a path lined with bamboo and ferns.
L’îlet Bethléem is a place of pilgrimage, with its chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, which attracts large numbers of pilgrims every Christmas. The site is very beautiful, with the river and its pebble beach on one side and exuberant vegetation on the other. It’s a popular spot for Benedictines (the inhabitants of Saint-Benoît), whether for picnics with family or friends, or for swimming. Water sports such as canyoning and kayaking are also available.
