Cap Méchant

Basse Vallée, 97442 Saint-Philippe

Cap Méchant is a well-known landmark in Saint-Philippe, not least for its incredible views of the wild coastline. Indeed, it has much to seduce seascape lovers, with its jagged basalt coastline, whipped up by powerful waves breaking over the cliffs formed by successive lava flows.

From the little kiosks set between filaos and vacoas, you can admire the fascinating spectacle of these charcoal-black cliffs, but above all – in heavy weather – witness the spectacle of the swell, and feel the ground tremble beneath your feet as the ocean assaults you so violently!

This well-appointed tourist site, dotted with paths and kiosks, is a delight not only for walkers along the coastal paths, but also for picnickers. Here you can admire the majestic paille-en-queues enjoying the gusts of wind.
