Rue de Paris is one of the most beautiful walks in downtown Saint-Denis. It links the Colonne de la Victoire to the Jardin de l’État.
Along its entire length, visitors can admire beautiful Creole huts from the 19th century, during the golden age of sugar, some of which once belonged to the island’s leading figures. Each hut has its own character and charm. Admire the shingled roofs, the openwork mantling, the varangues, the elaborate facades, the well-kept gardens… Numerous plaques indicate the history of these homes. Guided tours of Rue de Paris are organized by the Tourist Office.
