Two visits are organized to this industrial site:
A visit to the sugar factory takes you deep into the fantastic world of the metamorphosis of plants into sugar.
A tour of the rum factory introduces you to the meticulous production of great rums, through the fermentation process and the mysteries of ageing in the Savanna cellars.
The journey through the Sugar Cane Odyssey begins with a 13-minute film presenting the history of the site and the challenges facing sugar cane on Réunion Island. The tour then takes you to the heart of the sugar and rum factories. It’s a fascinating journey through an industrial world of impressive proportions, and a fascinating insight into the production processes involved. The production of cane sugar will hold no secrets for you, and you’ll be introduced to the astonishing quest for aromas and tastes that leads to the creation of the entire range of rums. At the end of the tour, you’ll be offered a tasting session, and you can buy all the products made from sugar cane at the Tafia & Galabé boutique.
Visiting this industrial site requires a few restrictions and safety recommendations:
Children aged 12 and over are welcome.
Hiking shoes or sneakers compulsory, skirts and dresses not recommended.
Personal belongings (rings, watches, earrings, etc.), backpacks and water bottles are not allowed on the site for food safety reasons.
