Le Dimitile by the Bayonne trail

Culminating at an altitude of 1850 m, the Dimitile summit is accessible via several trails starting from l’Entre-Deux.

Bayonne-Dimitile trail: Duration: 7h30 one way. Difficult. 1700m vertical drop.

The Bayonne trail is one of the most difficult because of its steep gradient. But it’s also one of the most beautiful, because for most of the way you’ll be overlooking first the Bras de Cilaos, then the cirque de Cilaos.

The Dimitile can also be reached by 4×4. At the summit, splendid panoramic views of the cirque de Cilaos and an orientation table await you! Nearby, the museographic area of the “Camp Marron” will remind you of the former runaway slaves, the “Marrons”, who chose the steep slopes of the Dimitile as their refuge. In fact, Dimitile takes its name from one of their leaders, Dimitile, known as “the elusive one”.
